Admissions and Eligibility

Eligibility

Montana Academy of Salons requires all prospective students to have a valid high school diploma. High school document such as an official transcript documenting graduation, Hi-Set (GED) certificate, homeschool certificate including state-issued credential, or college transcripts demonstrating completion of at least a two-year program that is acceptable for full credit toward a bachelor’s degree are also accepted. 

Educational background checks are done prior to enrollment. Montana Academy does not enroll ability-to-benefit students. Montana Academy does not recruit students who are currently admitted to or attending another school offering a similar course of study.

Out Of State

Out-of-state applicants must meet the same requirements as in-state applicants when applying for programs in Barbering, Supplemental Barbering, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Manicuring, Massage Therapy, Microdermabrasion, and Teacher Training.

Application And Enrollment Procedures

Step One: Schedule A Career Planning Session


Contact our admissions office at 406-771-8772 ext. 5 to set up your career planning session. During your visit, you’ll discuss the following information:

  • Consumer Information

  • Right to Know

  • Student Catalog

  • Annual Security Report

  • Housing Information

  • Daycare Information

  • Federal Student Aid at a Glance

If you plan on using financial aid, be sure to complete the FAFSA. After meeting with your admissions representative and submitting all required documents, you will receive either an acceptance or denial letter.

Step Two: Registration


During registration, the following are needed:

  • Completed enrollment application

  • Signed enrollment agreement

  • Personal Identification

    • Valid driver’s license, valid photo ID, or valid passport
  • Proof of High School Graduation: (at least one of the following)
    • Official high school or college transcript, or HiSET (GED) certificate

    • High school diploma or official transcript

    • Homeschool certificate, including state-issued credential

    • College transcripts showing completion of at least a two-year program acceptable for full credit toward a bachelor’s degree

  • Completed Occupational Qualifications Fact Sheet

  • Signed Kit List

  • Payment of registration fee 

During registration, the following are needed:

Admissions Requirements

To complete your registration and sign an enrollment contract, you must submit the following documents:

  • Personal Identification:
    • Valid driver’s license, valid photo ID, or valid passport
  •  Proof of High School Graduation: (at least one of the following)
    • Official high school or college transcript, or HiSET (GED) certificate

    • High school diploma or official transcript

    • Homeschool certificate, including state-issued credential

    • College transcripts showing completion of at least a two-year program acceptable for full credit toward a bachelor’s degree

  • Teacher Training Program: Provide a copy of your current Montana practitioner license.

  • Supplemental Barbering Program: You must be a recent graduate of the Cosmetology program or provide a copy of your current Montana Cosmetology license.

  • Microdermabrasion Course: You must be a recent graduate of Montana Academy’s Cosmetology or Esthetics programs or provide a copy of your current Montana Cosmetology or Esthetics license.
