Linda M. McPherson: A Visionary in the Beauty Industry

With a journey that began in 1979 when she was first licensed as a cosmetologist, Linda McPherson spent over four decades shaping the landscape of the beauty industry in Montana. As the innovative business owner and CEO of the Montana Academy of Salons, Linda's influence extends far beyond her salons and schools; she is a mentor, facilitator, and advocates education to others in the profession.

Linda's entrepreneurial journey took off with her ownership of Le Cut a salon in Dillon, Montana (1983-1988), followed by Linda Michaels Salon & Day Spa, LLC., in Great Falls (1989-2016). In 2006, she established the Montana Academy of Salons, a fully licensed and accredited institution that offers comprehensive training in barbering, cosmetology, esthetics, manicuring, massage therapy, microdermabrasion, and teacher training. Under her leadership, the academy has become synonymous with excellence, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to student success. Most recently, she expanded her vision by opening a second campus in Billings, Montana, in December 2022.

Her passion for education is particularly evident in her extensive background in color theory and esthetics. Linda was a pioneering force with the approval of microdermabrasion through the Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists. Linda has a genuine love for teaching-having taught color and esthetic classes that ignite creativity and instill confidence in aspiring students.

Linda’s commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed. She was honored with the 1992 Montana Challenge award and the prestigious Fire Within 2015 Inspire Award in Great Falls, celebrating her impact on the beauty industry. She holds appointed positions as Montana Representative to the State Relations Committee under the umbrella of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) and Crowning Committee for Fire Within in 2016. Beyond her professional achievements, she values family and cherishes time spent with her sons and grandsons, where she enjoys spending weekends at the cabin and teaching them the joys of cooking and snow skiing.

As a dynamic leader, Linda McPherson remains dedicated to her mission of fostering talent within the beauty industry, inspiring others to achieve their fullest potential. With her eyes set firmly on the future, she continues to shape the next generation of salon professionals, leaving a lasting legacy of innovation, passion, and success in Montana and beyond.
